About the Author
Nivaldo Tro is currently chair of the department of chemistry at Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California, where he has been a faculty member since 1990.�� He received his B.A degree in chemistry from Westmont College and earned a Ph.D. in chemistry from Stanford University, for work on developing and using optical techniques to study the adsorption and desorption of molecules to and from surfaces in ultrahigh vacuum. He then went on to the University of California at Berkeley, where he did post-doctoral research on ultra-fast reaction dynamics in solution.� Since coming to Westmont, Professor Tro has been awarded grants from the American Chemical Society Petroleum Research Fund, from Research Corporation, and from the National Science Foundation to study the dynamics of various processes occurring in thin adlayer films adsorbed on dielectric surfaces.� Honored as Westmont’s outstanding teacher of the year in 1994, 2001, and 2008, he was also named the college’s outstanding researcher of the year in 1996. Professor Tro lives in Santa Barbara with his wife, Ann, and their four children, Michael, Alicia, Kyle, and Kaden. Perfect book for beginners in chem

Perfect book for beginners in chem. special features of the book eg skill builder boxes pose questions relating to the material in the chapter. These help in acquiring the necessary knowledge and helps understand the topic better. At the end of each chapter there is a summary of the concepts learnt, and many question types that ensure the necessary knowledge has been acquired. The language of the book is Easy to understand. Many illustrations are in picture form to help with visualization of what happens. The book also has a website where online one on one tutorials can be used to ask any doubts. This books is perfect because every other book will just introduce to the main topics but this book has every topic in chemistry introduced. This way the student gets to know which area of chemistry he/she is most likely interested in.

Definitely worth buying if you are looking for a book which covers everything you want in a clear understandable way.

PS I never took a chem course in high school. Right now I'm in uni and i'm majoring in mechanical engineering. I have chem course which is general chem. But because I had no prior knowledge of chem I bought this book to help me out get introed to all areas of chem and especially those I will need. So in the summer i went through the whole book solving every exercise that is in it. Now i find chem interesting (ty Nivaldo) !!

Sorry for such a long review but when it is about a perfect book, length shouldn't matter ;)

Ripped off again, do not buy Kindle versions.

*sigh* Bought the rental version of this book on Amazon, because it was the same as the hardcover and thus not as heavy. Of course it does not include the all important access code which you need to pass any college class these days. So as a result I have just tossed another $80 down the proverbial drain.

Michael: But since you bought the kindle edition I do believe that it only comes with the book version for the kindle

As always, buyer beware, DO NOT BUY THE KINDLE VERSION OF THIS BOOK. YOU WILL BE SCREWED.

Good book for both, beginners and experienced OL3 developers

I was given this book to review, as I am a software developer with a GIS background. So, I spent a respectable amount of time with it.

First thing I need to say is I love the cookbook approach for books like this one: focused on a library. I want to know how to do things with this version of the library. Period. And this books contains a lot of useful recipes. So, it fullfills its promise.

The 3 first chapters are pretty basic, in my opinion. Good for beginners. Chapters 4 and 5 are more complex, and will keep you really busy. Chapter 6 is all about styling. Very comprehensive, but I prefer a different approach for styling my maps (CartoCSS, for example: separate style from code. CartoDB and Mapbox allow this). Chapter 7 contains a few cool tricks I didn't know about, and leaves you hungry for more recipes.

One thing that bothers me a bit is the lack of live links to jsfiddle/plnkr versions of the recipes. It would be great to read the book while having a running version of the recipes. But maybe the idea is to make you write the recipes by yourself. So, just a matter of personal opinion.

If you're new to OL3, I think this book is perfect to make you productive in short time. But if you worked with OL3 before, you can probably skip chapters 01 to 03, and start with chapter 04.

Anyway, I think you can find interesting recipes here, regardless of your previous experience with OL3. Good book.

Must Read for Expecting Moms

Great advice for nutrition before, during and after pregnancy. I love that it gives very specific diet information but that it is a very easy read. A must read for anyone expecting or planning on getting pregnant soon.

Much better than "What to Expect..."

I am a physical therapist, so the commonly used "What to Expect..." series didn't really do it for me. I found I liked this book much better for it's detail, yet it was still an easy read. It would also be great for the layperson who wanted to dive a little deeper into what it really means to eat healthy when you are pregnant. If detail is not your thing and you just want an overview...then there are probably better options out there for you.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Max and Kate�had it all until Max's drinking problems drove Kate away in fear of her safety and safety of her unborn child. Eight years on Max is sober and regrets the break up of his marriage. Max doesn't know he is a father so when he runs into Kate�and learns he is a father he is shocked and devastated.

I think Susan Meier did a fantastic job writing about a sensitive issue such as alcoholism and the effects it has on families.

This was one of my favorite books to write and also one of my most responded to books by readers. I love writing about characters with depth and real troubles, even as I get to show that every life has a lighter side!

Kate and Max's daughter, Trisha, doesn't understand adult problems and Max and Kate work to keep her from finding out. What neither expects is that their old love doesn't rekindle. Instead, as two different people, they find a new love.

I hope you enjoy Max and Kate's story of their second chance at love.

sweet contemporary romance

This completely grabbed me from the start! Max and Kate meeting in the lobby of the hospital, and just the few moments they spend there, where Kate realizes Max has stopped drinking, and Max realizes that he has a daughter - WOW!

Max Montgomery is a real-estate mogul, from a rich family; Kate Hunter left him when he was in a drunken stupor, having become an alcoholic after learning a huge family secret. What he didn't know is that Kate was pregnant when she left him, and she was afraid of him because he was breaking furniture and she thought about how it would be to introduce a baby to that kind of life. What Kate didn't know is that Max became sober shortly after she left. When they meet again, it's in the lobby of the hospital, after Kate's dad has a stroke she comes back to help her mother out, and spend some time with both of her parents.

Max is really angry at first when he understands that Kate has kept his daughter from him. At the same time, he can understand her, he knows that he was behaving in ways incompatible with raising a baby at the time she left him.

It is clear from the start that Max is still in love with Kate, although he is upset about only getting to know Trisha when she's seven years old as well. The first meeting between father and daughter is pretty awkward, but it seems so real, exactly how I would imagine a grown man would interact with a little girl who's his daughter, but not knowing her yet, and not having a lot of experience around children.

Because the one thing she hadn't seen the day before when she'd visited him in her beautiful former house was the crystal vase her parents had scrimped and saved to buy as a wedding gift for her and Max (...) To this day he probably didn't even know he'd thrown it against the fireplace and shattered it into a million pieces, along with her heart - and their marriage. This confuses me a little, the crystal vase her parents gave them for their marriage is what actually pushed her to leave? That's a little shallow, and this story has been far from shallow so far!

I really like to see how both Max and Kate are trying to deal with the new versions of each other, but things become a tad melodramatic at times, and that is too bad. They also behave a little bit like insecure teenagers every now and then, and that seems a little strange, since they are both grown ups, secure in their lives and their jobs.

All in all a story I really liked, and I will for sure check out other books by Susan Meier, a sweet, easy romance, with flowing prose is not something I find everyday! I recommend this book to all romance lovers who like to have some humor and drama sprinkled on their story as well.

4 STARS I like how the characters are trying to deal with thier past troubles. They are trying to do whats best for thier daughter, not what they want. Thier are no warnings about the content of this book. I look forward to reading about Max's brother story that is coming soon but not as fast as I want. Max Montgomery had it all but then through his drinking he lost a lot of the good things in his life that he had. Max has been sober for seven years. He has tried to make up for all his past offenses when he was a drunk, except his ex-wife. Max was coming out of the elevator at the hospital and ran into his ex-wife he has not seen for 8 years. Kate Hunter was planning on telling her husband but the night she was going to he came home in a drunken rage. He broke a lot of things, even the front room window. Kate knew she had to protect her baby from Max and his family, so she ran that night. Max went up to Kate and was telling her that he was sorry he ruined thier marriage when another elevator opened up. Trisha came out and called her mom. One look and Max knew she was his daughter. Kate knew she could not afford to fight Max's family,money and all the judges that they helped get into office. Now seeing Max was sober and wanting to be a father Kate agreed he could see her but not alone for now. Kate was not ready to believe him that he was not a drunk any more and so angry. Max wanted to blame her for keeping his daughter a secret for so long but he knew it was him that made those troubles for his marriage. Kate planned to stay with her parents for 3 months and help while her dad was recovering from a stroke. Max had lots of money but knew he could not buy his daughter with expensive presents. I enjoyed reading this book. Seeing where Kate and Max dealing with the past and learning about who they were now. I got this book a while back and figured it was high time it moved up on my review schedule. It was a fast, easy, yet emotional read and I found myself rooting for this family to have a second chance.

Max has been living sober for the last several years. His alcoholism ruined his marriage and he's never gotten over his love for his ex-wife. As fates would have it, he runs into his ex, Kate, and those old sparks are still there. For him at least. Then, he's hit with a huge shock. Not only did Kate leave him, but she was pregnant when she left. She's never told him about the pregnancy, because she didn't know he was sober. So, the couple tries to figure out the best way to ease Max into their lives.

Max and Trisha (his daughter) develop an easy relationship. Max truly loves being her father. The more time he spends with his daughter, the more he sees Kate as well. Their old feelings for each other never went away and they soon find they are trying to figure out what to do about it. Then, old skeletons come out complicating matters further.

With a cast of truly likable characters, I found myself rooting for them to have a second chance. I do believe that they had a deep love for each other. I loved seeing their love being rediscovered. After all, they both had made life changes, but it was sweet to see that they loved each other even more.

This book was a true romance story that was filled with hope, love, and second chances. If you are a romance fan and love a happy ending, this is a great easy read that will capture your heartstrings.

Living in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia surrounded by mountains veiled in mist and mystery lends itself well to creating the characters and setting for The Hunter's Moon, and the stories that follow as the series unfolds.Some of the characters and creatures are based on lore I've learned over the years--lore some people swear is true. Others appeared to me, as characters have a way of doing. Out of the mist. A great deal of research and intuition went into writing The Hunter's Moon and the series. A Fantastic Start to a New Series

Sixteen-year-old Morgan Daniel and her younger brother Jimmy are on the run again, after having been tracked down by The Panteras—the gang that forced them into witness protection in the first place. Forced to choose between letting Mateo’s goons run them off the road and taking charge of their fate, Morgan purposefully steers the car down an embankment, careening them into a world far wilder than their car ride.

I’ve read a number of Beth Trissel’s books, and I’m always amazed by her creativity. This holds true for The Hunter’s Moon. She takes bits and pieces from a number of different areas, including Native American folklore, pop culture, and the paranormal, throws them in the proverbial pot, and creates her own unique world out of the mix. Her characters are easy to like and relate to (even for an adult like me) and they handle the circumstances in which they find themselves with a mix of the deadly serious and good dose of humor. Morgan’s relationship with her brother Jimmy is and interesting dynamic, especially when Jimmy takes on the occasional role of protector. The blossoming romance between Morgan and Jackson is sweet and I love that the focus is on the innocence of first love—it provides a nice counterpoint to the fear and chaos Morgan and her cohorts encounter.

I wish the story had been longer, but all in all a fantastic start to a new series. I can’t wait to find out what happens next!

Twilight meets Teen Wolf with a twist

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. The Hunter's Moon is a wonderful way for Beth Trissel to introduce her young adult series. It's got something for everyone: romance, action, and a little bit of suspense. I couldn't put it down and finished the whole thing in two days. I can't wait for the rest of the series to come out!
